Secure in her professional life, but adrift in her personal life, the heroine takes a sabbatical from her high-tech life as an aeronautical engineer to run her grandmother’s yarn shop in a small town in Tennessee. Befriending a motherless girl has her questioning her purpose in life. Haunted by a miscarriage, which ended her marriage, she yearns for a child of her own and realizes her professional successes cannot replace the child she lost. She explores artificial insemination and approaches the hero with an offer to provide the sperm. Complications with the pregnancy and facing another miscarriage, she turns to the hero and his daughter, who provide hope and bring balance to her life.
